Mission of the Cat Specialist Group

The mission of the IUCN SSC Cat Specialist Group (Cat SG) is to support the long-term conservation of wild cat species, their habitats, and prey populations through continuous assessment, conservation planning, technical guidance, capacity development, communication, and the promotion of conservation action. The Cat SG contributes to the implementation of the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Assess–Plan–Act framework and works collaboratively with governments, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, conservation practitioners, donors, and other stakeholders involved in cat conservation.
