Pooriya Sepahvand
For more than fifteen years, I have been engaged in wildlife research and conservation, with a particular focus on mammals and their habitats. My work involves monitoring wildlife populations in mountainous landscapes, developing and applying standardized population assessment and census methods, identifying conservation threats, and supporting evidence-based conservation planning and management. I have conducted research and contributed to wildlife conservation projects involving a diverse range of mammals across Central Asia and the Middle East, including wild sheep and wild goats, as well as large carnivores such as the Persian leopard and Asiatic cheetah. My research has also included small cats, including Pallas’s cat, wildcat, jungle cat, and caracal. I am currently a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran, where my academic and research activities focus on biodiversity conservation, wildlife ecology, and conservation management.
