Most of my professional efforts are focused on research and conservation of the Persian leopard in Southwest Asia, with more research on wildcats, Pallas's cats, cougars and snow leopards. In different times, I worked at World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in large mammal monitoring and biodiversity conservation; taught conservation courses at the American University of Armenia; and studied human-wildlife conflicts and lectured at the University of Göttingen (Germany), inter alia. Since 2026, I lead the Lab of Vertebrate Zoology of the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology, where I coordinate research on human-carnivore conflicts and other studies of carnivores and their prey. I supervised MSc and PhD students working on leopards in Iran, cougars in the USA, snow leopards in Nepal, and currently do so on wolves, otters and raptors in Armenia.
