Tiasa Adhya is a Doctoral Fellow at Centre for Wildlife Studies. She co-founded and directs The Fishing Cat Project, the longest running research and conservation program on the Fishing Cat. She is a member of the Fishing Cat Conservation Alliance. She is also Joint Secretary of Kolkata based organization, Human and Environment Alliance League (HEAL) and Adjunct Faculty at St Xavier's (Autonomous) College, Kolkata. She works with local residents, student communities, government officials and NGO partners to collect ecological data on the Fishing Cat and its wetland habitat and to create constructive and collaborative conservation partnerships to highlight the Vulnerable species and its threatened ecosystem. She was also appointed by Calcutta High Court as member of seven committees to work with different government agencies, administration, judiciary and hunter communities to stop ritualistic hunting of wild animals, especially the Fishing Cat.
