Shweta works at the intersection of ecology, sociology, and policy to implement human–wildlife conflict interventions that are socially just and practically implementable. Her research focuses on large carnivore-people (particularly Big Cat) relationships in the Trans-Himalayas and Shivalik-Himalayas, with an emphasis on risk mapping, problem animal theory, vernacular coexistence, and community-based action. Her doctoral research was on leopard-human interactions in Himachal Pradesh, with a focus on human injuries and deaths attributed to leopards. Her post-doctoral research was on developing a stakeholder conflict mediation tool using a human-rights approach.
