Ganesh Puri is a conservationist and forest officer from Nepal with more than a decade of experience in wildlife conservation and community-based natural resource management. He is the founder of the Western Terai Fishing Cat Conservation Project, where he has led research and conservation efforts for fishing cats since 2020. His work focuses on human–wild cat coexistence, ecological monitoring, and community-based conservation. He developed the Fish Bank Program, a community-led approach that helps reduce conflict between fishing cats and fish farmers while generating local support for their conservation. His work also engages women, youth, fish farmers, and local communities through conservation-linked livelihoods, guardian groups, education, habitat restoration, and roadkill mitigation. Beyond fishing cats, Ganesh has contributed to research and conservation initiatives involving snow leopards and other small wild cats in Nepal.
