I am an independent conservation biologist specializing in felids and mountain ungulates across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America. Working with governments and Indigenous Peoples, my research has included large-scale camera trapping across Oman, the first ecological investigation of Pallas’s cat in Mongolia, and monitoring African lions in Botswana. I use field data and models to understand wildlife resource requirements, habitat use and ecology as a basis for spatial planning and landscape conservation. I have led a number of IUCN Red List assessments, including assessments of Pallas’s cat in 2008, 2015 and 2020.
