Dr. Shari Wilcox serves as Senior Southwest Representative at Defenders of Wildlife. She is a cultural geographer and conservation social scientist whose work spans threatened and imperiled species conservation and recovery, habitat restoration, human-wildlife coexistence, community engagement, and public advocacy, primarily in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. She leads Defenders’ ocelot conservation program and serves on the organization’s jaguar recovery team. Shari also serves as Professor of Practice in Geography at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
