Moreangels Mbizah is a Zimbabwean conservationist and the founder and Executive Director of Wildlife Conservation Action (WCA), where she leads community-centred approaches to lion conservation and human-lion coexistence. Her work focuses on reducing conflict between people and lions while strengthening the capacity of communities living alongside wildlife to participate meaningfully in conservation. Over the past few years, she has worked closely with communities in the Nyaminyami, Binga and Mbire districts of northern Zimbabwe, developing innovative approaches that combine research, community engagement, conservation leadership and livelihoods. Through WCA’s Community Guardians programme, local people are supported to monitor wildlife, prevent conflict and promote coexistence. Moreangels’ conservation leadership has received international recognition, including the Whitley Fund for Nature Award. Her work demonstrates how locally led conservation can contribute to both thriving communities and the long-term survival of lions.
