I am Deputy Director of Conservation Action for Europe, West and Central Africa at Panthera. Throughout my career, I have sought to translate scientific research into practical conservation outcomes for wild cats. My PhD research in South Africa’s Karoo region explored farmer-predator interactions, particularly those involving caracals. I then developed a conservation action plan for the Eurasian lynx in France, which was subsequently incorporated into the national action plan for the species. In 2020, I joined Panthera’s efforts to conserve the critically endangered Arabian leopard in Saudi Arabia. Since 2021, I have led large-scale camera-trap and threat surveys across West Africa, generating data on the status of leopards, cheetahs, lions, and African golden cats. I now use these findings to support species assessments, including the IUCN Red List and Green Status, inform conservation planning and policy, and guide evidence-based conservation action.
