Kulani Nyakane is a South African carnivore conservationist, National Geographic explorer and Cheetah Metapopulation Manager with extensive experience in carnivore conservation across Southern Africa. He holds a National Diploma in Nature Conservation and has worked in the conservation sector since 2012. His experience includes cheetah population monitoring, capture and translocation, GPS and VHF collaring, ecological fieldwork, and community engagement. As part of The Metapopulation Initiative (TMI), Kulani coordinates cheetah metapopulation management, reintroductions, rewilding projects, and cross-border translocations across Southern Africa. His work focuses on strengthening viable cheetah populations, improving genetic diversity, and establishing sustainable populations across protected areas. He has worked extensively across South Africa and on reintroduction projects for cheetahs in the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. He is also passionate about conservation education, youth engagement, and increasing local participation in wildlife conservation.
