Eduardo Lutondo is a biologist and PhD student at the University of Porto, with four years’ experience dedicated to the conservation of the African golden cat (Caracal aurata) in Angola. He works in the northern region of the country as coordinator of the African Golden Cat Conservation Project in Angola, in partnership with the African Golden Cat Conservation Alliance (AGCCA). During the first three years of the project, his work focused on biodiversity monitoring, scientific research and environmental education, with the aim of gathering evidence of the species’ presence and promoting its conservation. In 2026, the project reached a historic milestone by obtaining the first confirmed records of the African golden cat in its natural habitat in Angola. Currently, Eduardo continues to work on strengthening scientific knowledge about the species, monitoring its populations and promoting the conservation of its habitats.
