Juan Camilo Cepeda-Duque is a Colombian wildlife biologist and conservationist whose work focuses on the ecology and conservation of threatened mammals in the Tropical Andes. He is a youth and early-career member (29 years old) of the Cat Specialist Group. For more than a decade, he has conducted field research on wild felids, integrating camera trapping, spatial ecology, and statistical modeling to investigate habitat use, activity patterns, and interactions within carnivore communities. His research has focused particularly on the clouded tiger-cat (Leopardus pardinoides), addressing its spatial and temporal ecology and the threats posed by domestic dogs, habitat transformation, and other anthropogenic pressures. Since 2021, he has led conservation initiatives combining long-term ecological monitoring with community engagement, environmental education, and domestic dog management across protected areas of the Colombian Andes. His broader research interests include carnivore coexistence, intraguild interactions, human–wildlife relationships, and translating ecological evidence into effective conservation actions.
