Dr. Valeria Boron has over ten years of experience working on felid science and conservation across multiple countries in South America. Her research focuses on jaguar and Neotropical felid ecology, threats, and implications for conservation and management. She completed a MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London and a PhD from DICE, University of Kent. Both were in partnership with Panthera, centred on jaguar and felid conservation in unprotected landscapes in Colombia. After her PhD, Valeria worked in Panthera and WWF-UK. Her role in Panthera was Science Coordinator for South America guiding Panthera’s research in the region, and managing jaguar conservation projects in Colombia, Bolivia, and Suriname. In WWF, Valeria works as Senior Programme Advisor Latin America and Jaguar Initiative Science Lead, focusing on applied conservation in the largest jaguar stronghold, the Amazon, in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru, and continuing to advance jaguar science.
