Ecologist educated at Free University of Berlin, Tulane University, New Orleans, University of Pretoria. Curator at Zoo Wuppertal (1999-2007) and Cologne (Kölner) Zoo, (2007-present), both in Germany. The Taxon Advisory Group (TAG) Chair for Felids at the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) overseeing all captive breeding programs cats. Advising on breeding programs for reintroduction (Lynx pardinus, L. lynx, Panthera p. saxicolor) Worked/working on ecology and behavior of Aardwolf (Proteles cristatus), Black-footed cat (Felis nigripes) 1992- present, leading the Black-footed Cat Working Group, on Sand Cat (Felis margarita) in the Sahara (1995-1999) and African Wildcat (Felis lybica) in the UAE and Morocco.
