I am a veterinary epidemiologist who works to understand and address infectious and non-infectious disease threats that impact the conservation of felids and other carnivores. My research has focused on assessing the impact of canine distemper virus on populations of Amur tigers in the Russian Far East, and the indications and effectiveness of targeted vaccination as a means of mitigating risk. I am now working with partners across Asia to determine the status of distemper to other tiger and leopard populations, and in Central Asia to assess health threats and veterinary solutions to promote the conservation of snow leopards.
