Spatial distribution and population of the jungle cat (_Felis chaus guild_) in the Republic of Dagestan

Nowadays the main area of habitat for the jungle cat (_Felis chaus guild_) is located in the South and Southeast Asia. The habitat located on the Caucasian Isthmus appears to be "undeveloped". The jungle cat (_Felis chaus guild_) lives in the Southeast Caucasus starting from the level of the Caspian Sea to 900-1000 m of height above the sea level. The species is spread in the valley of the river Kura to Gori and is unknown after Suram. The jungle cat (Felis chaus guild) can be noticed in the valley of the river Araks to the longitude of Alagyaz (Aragats).
