The general aim of this thesis was to contribute to the knowledge of bovine tuberculosis (BTB) in lions by addressing the following objectives 1) development of an accurate and practical diagnostic assay to be used in monitoring and surveillance; 2) development of new tools to assess the immunopathogenesis of BTB in lions; 3) evaluation of the potential risk of co-infection with FIVple. The main findings and their implications for the control of BTB in lion populations will be discussed in this chapter and recommendations for future research will be given.
