Management and rescue of wildlife ex situ in Colombia: A study case of a jaguar (_Panthera onca_) in the Colombian Orinoquia

Hunting and wildlife trade in Colombia is a problem of extensive proportions, mainly because the magnitude at which itïs shown within the national territory, being ranked as the third more profitable illegal business in the country after drug trafficking and the illegal weapons sale. This situation leads the local people of rural and urban areas to use the wildlife as a subsistence method. Also the capacity of the institutions responsible for protecting these resources is inadequate, being scarce the analysis at the species level and the projects and approaches to improve this situation, showing the priority needs to adopt several conservation strategies to generate preventive and corrective measures both in situ and ex situ sceneries.
