Coded tags have been used over the past two decades to monitor thousands of fish passing through hydroelectic dams, particularly in North America. However, taking this technology away from fish and using it for other applications is still in its infancy, primarily because most researchers do not know about it or do not appreciate the potential it has for large scale projects. This article aims to introduce the ideas and benefits t a wider wildlife tracking community. |
