Diversity of mammals of the Ubajara National Park (Cear , Brazil)
2000  Mastozoologia Neotropical (7): 95-100

This paper presents the results of a survey conducted on the Ubajara National Park as an attempt to access the diversity of mammals of the region where this conservation unit is located. Methods included trapping, mist netting and observation of live specimens as well as recording of direct and indirect evidence (bones, tracks, fecal samples among others). Information and material provided by local people were also considered. Of the 42 listed species of mammals, 23 represent new records to the region (three marsupials, one primate, one felid, five rodents and 13 bats), and seven are considered endangered. Our results are here interpreted as an evidence that the diversity of mammals in the region is higher than previously reported.
