Relationships of age and sex to lynx pelt characteristics
1984  Journal of Wildlife Management (48): 953-956

Information on productivity and mortality rates is difficult to obtain for furbearers such as the lynx. If, however, age and sex can be ascertained by pelt characteristics, fur sales provide a readily available source fo data on population structure. We investigated relationships between lynx age and sex and the quality and value of pelts in north-eastern Ontario during 1979-82. Our objective was to identify pelt characteristics that relate to age or sex ratios in local populations.
