Population ecology of white-tailed deer in the wet prairie of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park
1994  Conference Proceeding

A 3-year research investigation of white-tailed deer populations in the contiguous wet prairie/tree island habitat of the Big Cypress National Preserve (hunted site-Stairsteps) and the Everglades National Park (nonhunted site-upper Shark River Slough, 100km2) was initiated in March 1989 to elucidate the biological potential of the herdes as (1) a food resource (prey base) for the endangered Florida panther, and (2) a recreational resource for sport hunting.
