Valentincic, S.
Predators in Yugoslavia
1974  Die Pirsch (8): 390-390

The Sava River divides Yugoslavia into two parts. The southern part is mainly mountainous and forested. The northern part, belonging to the Pannonian plain, is rather flat. Large game species are not found here, with the exception of red deer in the eastern parts of the country bordering the Carpathians. Numerous game species live in the northwest - in Slovenia. Of the large carnivores, only the bear is stationary, the wolf occasionally moves from the southeast, from Macedonia; bear, wolf, jackal and lynx can be found there.
