Unlike the Russian Pamir, the fauna of the Afghan Wakhan corridor remained almost unknown until the recent past, because this area was almost inaccessible to foreigners. As probably the first zoologists, E. Kullmann and J. Niethammer were able to explore the western part of the Great Pamir from 2 to 13.9.1965. |
