Pampas cats: How many species?
  Full Book

Felids have engendered considerable systematic controversy, and the pampas cat, usually known as Felis colocolo, is no exception. The cause of the problem is the same as for other cats, scarcity of specimen-based research along the last 50 years. Moreover, data published during the last century and the first half of the 20th century are based on few specimens, old fashioned methodologies, and evolutionary concepts currently surpassed. For those reasons, modern revisions of certain problematic groups would be desirable.
