Having lived in Tokyo where it sometimes seems as if all forms of life are about to be buried under a layer of concrete. I think of Iriomote as Japan's secret tropical paradise. One of the southernmost islands of the Ryukyu chain in Okinawa Prefecture this island, with an area of 322 square kilometers, lies just one degree north of the Tropic of Cancer. |
