Small mammals
1984  Book Chapter

Most studies on Saharan small mammals have been on their geographical distribution, taxonomy and physiology. Much less is known about their ecology in the natural environment. Small mammals in all desert of the world tend to be rather similar in their range of physiological and morphological adaptations and community structure, regardless of phylogeny and taxonomic relationship. Thus, desert mammals exhibit parallel and convergent evolution resulting from selection pressures imposed by the severe environment in which they live.
