The sand cat Felis margarita Loche, 1858 in Egypt

We review records of the sand cat, Felis margarita Loche, 1858, in Egypt and provide subspecific determinations for two specimens collected recently in the Eastern Desert. The first specimen taken in Egypt was an immature female obtained on 1 March 1975 at Wadi el Targama (22ø55' N, 33ø10'E), Aswan Governorate. The pelt and skull are in the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago (No. 107299). This record and some measurements were reported by Osborn and Helmy. to be continued.
