Proposal for the official endorsement of the "International Studbook for the BLACK-FOOTED CAT, Felis nigripes BURCHELL, 1823"
1988  Full Book

Status in the wild Till now there has been no scientific research on the status of the free-living Black-footed Cats. Probably this is the reason why this species is not specified in the IUCN Red Data Book VoL I 1978. The Black-footed Cat is supposed to be rare in the wild and is therefore registered in Appendix I of CITES.
