Two new records of_ Leopardus geoffroyi _and _Puma yagouaroundi_ (Mammalia: Carnivora: Felidae) in the west of Argentina
2017  N¢tulas Faun¡sticas (229 ): 1-5

We registered two new records of felids,_ Leopardus geoffroyi_ and _Puma yagouaroundi_ from the western Argentina, La Rioja and Catamarca provinces, respectively. The records are within the known distribution ranges for both species. However, both are important data, because there are few carnivorous records in these provinces. The specimen of Jaguarund¡ is of reddish coloration, which is more frequent in open areas and the Geoffroy's cat had the typical "stained" coloration. These records contribute to the analysis of the distribution of the Geoffroy's cat and the Jaguarundi, and additional raise the problem of wildlife and vehicle collisions as a major threat that affects the Argentine masto-fauna, as both records came from individuals hit by vehicles.
