Ghosh, A.
Tiger tourism: an empirical study of project tiger initiatives towards tiger conservation in Sundarbans Tiger Reserve
2022  Full Book

The research is of high importance as it focuses only on the Sundarbans located in the Indian territory, as most of the research/literature reviews available are focused on the Sundarbans located in Bangladesh. The research has done its role in contributing to the existing literature. The result of the study will answer some of the concerns addressed in the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve Conservation Plan (2012-13 to 2016-17). The findings from the study highlighted the problems or the huddles of the study area and also have pointed out multiple recommendations in all the domains to solve the issues in hand. National Tiger Conservation Authority (Project Tiger) and Sundarbans Tiger Reserve Office will be hugely benefited by this research in several ways such as new planning and strategy formulation to handle tourism activities in the study site, maximizing the benefits for the site as well as the local community and be enlightened about the true perception of the local community regarding the site and the work done by the Government of India. Tiger Tourism should be the face of wildlife tourism for India, boosting and utilizing the true capacity.
