Rimoldi, P.G.
Diversity and distribution patterns of medium and large native mammals of the Carcara¤  River Basin (Province of Santa Fe)
2015  Mastozoologia Neotropical (22): 202-204

Considering that most of the south of Santa Fe has become fields, together with the effects of population growth, it is important to highlight the role occupied by natural environments that still exist on the banks of the Carcara¤  River and its tributaries, since it is in these places where many of the mammals are still preserved characteristic of this region. For this reason, the incorporation of the two tributaries of the Carcara¤  River is suggested (Tortugas and Ca¤ada de Lagunas Saint Lucia) as "Natural Water Reserves or Wetlands" (Provincial Decree No. 1579/2012), which would allow the protection of the last relicts natural present in the basin, and with this, to the mastofauna that uses these places to satisfy its basic ecological requirements as space, cover, food and water.
