Breeding the African golden cat
1978  International Zoo Yearbook (18): 147-150

Our African golden cats _Felis_ (_Profelis_) _aurata _arrived from Togo on 11 August 1975. The group consisted of an adult pair, aged roughly two-and-a-half years, and the six-month-old cubs of their second litter (a male and a female). In this article, the subsequent breeding history of this pair is described. The sibling adult pair gave birth to another litter shortly after arrival. These cubs (two males), however, were harmed by the older cubs and did not survive. A little while later, the adult female was pregnant again and was then separated from the rest of the family to give birth to two cubs (a male and a female). She remained with this litter, while the adult male remained with their previous litter.
