First photographic record of clouded leopard from Kaziranga Alluvial Forest, India
2020  Cat News (71): 23-25

The clouded leopard _Neofelis nebulosa_ is an elusive species primarily found in the foothills of the Himalayas and in South-east Asia. For the first time, the species was recorded from Kaziranga National Park, in Assam, India, an area dominated by alluvial grasslands and forests on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Documenting the presence of clouded leopard in this novel habitat attests the importance of maintaining corridors, as the individuals have likely dispersed from the nearby Karbi-Anglong hill forests, an area that is at high risk to habitat degradation, over-extraction of natural resources, and hunting.
