Vaisman, A.
It is not my tiger! - Legislation problems of wildlife conservation: analytical overview of current legislation with proposals for its improvement
2012  Full Book

The aim of the project was to identify and articulate the legal and practical shortcomings in Tiger-related conservation, hunting and trade legislation and to propose legislative amendments. The overriding goal of this work was to provide a solid legal base for successful reduction of poaching of and trade in Tigers and their prey, as well as other rare and protected animals. This document presents a summary of TRAFFIC's Russian-language report which reviewed Russia's legislation in force to control illegal hunting and collection of natural resources, as well as illegal trade. Russia's legal acts, which regulate animal use and conservation, were developed over a period of many years and during different economic and political times. In addition to a lack of coherence between the various legislative acts, this has also given rise to gaps and inconsistencies, as well as impracticalities in their implementation.
