Utfodring av „lg (_Alces alces_) och lodjur (_Lynx lynx_) i f†ngenskap
2009  Full Book

The aim of this report was to carry out a literature review on the natural feeding behaviour of moose and lynx and a survey to investigate how these two species are fed in captivity (zoos and exhibiting enclosures) in Sweden. Feeding animals in captivity require good knowledge of natural behaviour, care and nutrition. The moose and the lynx are two very different animals which exist in Sweden both in the wild and in captivity. Both species are considered to be hard to keep in captivity around the world. The questions of the study were what are moose and lynx choice of food and their eating behaviour in the nature, and how their gastro-intestinal tracts are constituted and what are their nutritional needs. I also wanted to get an overview on how the feeding in captivity is done and if something seems wrong or could be done differently.
