Thudugala, A.
Fishing cat conservation in Sri Lanka
2018  Conference Proceeding

The Fishing Cat _Prionailurus viverrinus_ is the second largest wild cat in Sri Lanka. It can be also found in the Himalayan foothills in India, eastern Pakistan and Nepal, some scattered locations in northern and eastern India along India's east coast, Thailand, and Cambodia and the Indonesian island of Java (Mukherjee et al. 2016). The greatest threats to the Fishing Cat across its global range are destruction of wetlands and mangrove habitats due to human settlements, conversion to agriculture and aquaculture, excessive hunting, and unauthorized logging (Cutter and Cutter 2009; Mukherjee et al. 2016).
