Ecology and conservation of Pampas cat_ Leopardus colocolo_ in northwestern Peru
2018  Conference Proceeding

The Pampas Cat _Leopardus colocolo_ occurs in a great variety of habitats from northern Ecuador to southern Argentina. Despite this wide distribution range, populations have been studied only in the Andes and Cerrado regions (Lucherini et al. 2016). Thus, our first objective was to assess the distribution range of Pampas Cat in its northern range, specifically in the Sechura desert (SD) and the seasonally dry forest (DF) of northwestern Peru and southwestern Ecuador. Between April 2015 and July 2016, we identified 12 new localities using 32 camera-traps and compiling confirmed and unpublished records. Three localities are located in the SD and nine in the DF.
