Der Luchs im Jura: unter besonderer Bercksichtigung des Solothurner Juras
2018  Mitteilungen der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft des Kantons Solothurn (43): 177-234

The lynx inhabited the Jura already during the last ice age, but in the 18th century it went extinct. After the rescue of the forests and the wild cloven-hoofed animals, the lynx was reintroduced in the Jura of Neuchƒtel and Vaud in 1974/75. The first animals migrated to the northeast in the early 1980s and reached the canton of Solothurn in 1983. Today, practically the entire Swiss and French Jura is populated. The article recaps the story of this return and presents insights into the biology and ecology of the lynx. The basics of the monitoring, information on its distribution, status and trend are presented. The ecological conditions for the existence of the lynx in the Jura are so good as ever in the last centuries. However, the Jura is an extensively used cultural landscape and the lynx has to share its habitat with prey animals and humans. Possible conflicts which can arise are presented and possible solutions given.
