Sand cat sightings in Niger and Chad
2016  Cat News (63): 11-14

The sand cat _Felis margarita_ is one of the world's least studied cats. One consequence is that the African range of this species is poorly known and only few details of its ecology and behaviour are documented. Recent observations in Chad and Niger recorded during fieldwork carried out by the Sahara Conservation Fund SCF and the Zoological Society of London ZSL provide new insights on distribution and behaviour, outlining a significant extension of known range, suggesting presence over a very large area of potential habitat in the Sahara.
