Records of rusty-spotted cat, Sri Lankamalleshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, India
2015  Cat News (62): 20-21

The rusty-spotted cat _Prionailurus rubiginosus_ is India's smallest arboreal to semi-arboreal cat that has been practically known from most of India except the north-east of the country. From Andhra Pradesh this species has been earlier reproted from Nellore and Kurnool districts. We report here the presence of the rusty-spotted cat from Sri Lankamalleshwara Wildilfe Sanctuary in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh based on 18 camera trap records collected between February 2011 and June 2014. Addtionally we give the site records of the rusty-spotted cat from India based on published literature and provide an insight on its distribution in scrub-dominated habitat in southern Andhra Pradesh.
