Status of the progress of the Conservation Plan for Felines of the Colombian Caribbean (PCFC) and identification of research priorities and management for the conservation of these species and their habitats (Estado del avance del Plan de Conservaci¢n de Felinos del caribe colombiano (PCFC) e identificaci¢n de las prioridades de investigaci¢n y gesti¢n para la conservaci¢n estas especies y sus h bitat)
2013  Book Chapter

Based on all projects already finalized, modeling exercises and preliminary results of all activities carried out within the Colombian Caribbean Wild felids Conservation Plan (PCFC), an identification of specific needs for the departments and Regional Environmental Agencies has been developed considering existing information gaps as well as the specific needs of the region. Also the main problems and possible solutions in the region to advance the conservation of the species were identified. This analysis allowed us to identify that the ineffectiveness of some institutional processes is the topic that gathers the majority of the problems affecting the conservation of these species, an also showed how the departments of Sucre, Magdalena and La Guajira are those who have had more progress related with management and implementation of projects under the Plan, which is reflected in the current state of knowledge, while the department of the Atlantic and C¢rdoba are those with the lowest progress. Finally we defined management solutions for the plan and identified seven critical areas where conservation efforts should be made to ensure the permanence of these species.
