Volume III - Anaimalai Conservation Area
2002  Full Book

This report is volume three of a six volume management guide. The Volume I addresses the conceptual and scientific basis of the approach, and would be of use to any manager or researcher entrusted with such an approach anywhere. Volume II is on wildlife habitat relationships and includes a framework for how to evaluate multiple wildlife species simultaneously, and narrative summaries of life histories of 184 wildlife species selected to represent various criteria of rarity, endemism, management focus, habitat associations and others. Volumes III to VI are intensive case studies of four "Conservation Areas" selected across India to represent a great diversity of ecological conditions, CA histories, cultural situations, and management challenges. Volume III treats Anaimalai Conservation Area, Volume IV treats Garo Hills Conservation Area, Volume V treats Satpura Conservation Area, and Volume VI treats Terai Conservation Area. The case study reports all follow the same basic structure: introduction / general description of the area; flora; fauna; social and economic situation; conclusion and management implications. The present report lists tiger, leopard, jungle cat, fishing cat, leopard cat, and rusty-spotted cat as present in Anaimalai Conservation Area.
