The Lynx - The Mystery of Tomorr Mountain (O. Qazimi; A. Trajçe)

Tomorr is one of the most worshiped and respected mountains of Albania. Its nature and landscape have been famous and wide-known from a long time, inspiring many poets, writers and painters to dedicate works to it. Tomorr has been proclaimed as the first Albanian national park, dating back on 1940.

One of the richness of Tomorr is its fauna composed by many animals and birds. An animal in particular is very special – the lynx – also known as the “Lion of the Balkans”. The lynx is critically endangered and its survival is threatened by illegal hunting and human pressure. Recently an initiative has started to ensure the survival of the lynx in Albania. The Albanian Lynx Group is working in many areas of the country, where lynx is suspected to live, and one of them is Tomorr Mountain. Every effort should be made to save the remaining lynx on Tomorr Mountain and, if it is proven extinct, we should try to return him back.
