I have earned my Ph.D. in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University in 1992 after receiving an M.S. in Wildlife Ecology from Utah State University in 1984. I spent several years living in Chile, studying the Patagonia wildlife including pumas. From 1992 until 2012, I have been with the Laboratory of Genomic Diversity, where I have specialized in wildlife conservation genetics, molecular ecology, and evolutionary biology. I have traveled extensively around collecting samples for studies on infectious disease, mammalian evolution, comparative genomics, and genetic mapping. I have joined the SCBI in January 2013.
