Situation of the Iberian lynx populations and other
carnivores in the Doñana National Park. First
report. Results from the years 2000-2001. Since March 1998, part of the
personnel of the Conservation Area of the Doñana National Park, realized a
series of experiences to finalize a method secure and reliable for the
detection, identification and census of the Iberian lynx that allow the
Administrations to count on detailed information most adjusted to the reality
as possible with the aim to design and carry out the measures needed for the
conservation of the species in this protected area. The objective followed was threefold: 1. To know how many individuals form the population of
the National Park, and where they area located. 2. Localize the reproducing
females, their breeding territories and their litters. 3. Confirm the survival
of the adults as well as of the juveniles and the subadults on dispersal. |
