I am the IUCN SSC Cat Specialist Group’s African Lion Database coordinator based at the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) in South Africa. Very broadly, this project aims to consolidate lion population, distribution and mortality data from across their range. Prior to this position, I was based in the EWT’s Conservation Science Unit where I have published several papers on large carnivores (e.g. lion, cheetah and wild dog). I have been a member of the African Lion Working Group since 2019. I am also currently a PhD candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and my dissertation will be focused on the conservation status of lions in Africa and their threats.
