The Cheetah Conservation Compendium

The Cheetah Conservation Compendium is a communication tool aiming to enhance the efficiency of the work of all people/institutions involved in the conservation of the cheetah Acinonyx jubatus. Cooperation and knowledge sharing is important and prevents duplication of efforts and thus avoids any waste of resources or time, both of which are extremely valuable and scarce. The idea of the establishment of a Cheetah Conservation Compendium was highly approved in a recent meeting in Paris, where a conservation initiative for the cheetah in the North African region was initiated by founding the partnership OGRAN (Observatoire du Guépard en Région d’Afrique du Nord), mainly aimed to further the conservation efforts in the francophone countries in North Africa. We are convinced that the enthusiasm about the benefits of such a tool will spread amongst the whole conservation community caring for this fascinating species.
