I am an associate professor at Sofia University. My interest in cat species started with my first job in 1993 as a Head Keeper of Cats in Sofia zoo. Currently I am involved in research and conservation of two cat species in Bulgaria – the Eurasian lynx and the European wildcat. My main cat related activities are camera trapping for new occurrences of lynx, which is slowly recovering in Bulgaria after 70 years of extinction and camera trapping research on the wild cat for assessing its distribution, numbers and density, occupancy, as well as hybridization and other threats. I am also involved in sample collection for genetic studies for both species.
